Devlog #4: The Card System! Chaos, Strategy, and a Bit of Luck
Nora and Frank » Devlog
When we shifted from a skill tree to a card-based system, we knew one thing: it had to be fun, flexible, and full of surprises. Cards in our game aren’t just passive buffs: they shape how you fight and survive. AND LOOK how fun the gameplay can be with all the different combinations!
and THIS #ScreenshotSaturday we are EXTRA proud of ourselves. Just LOOK at our new gameplay footage – a visual feast of chaos, beauty, and post-apocalyptic mayhem. #NoraAndFrank is truly a child of love. We CAN'T WAIT for you to experience it!#devupdates #GodotEngine #indiedev pic.twitter.com/FWddW3k1Ea

How It Works
- After completing a stage, you choose one of three random cards
- Cards grant abilities, attacks, and special effects. Some are quite straightforward, others are… unpredictable.
- Cards are played IN COMBINATIONS. You don’t just pick the best ones - you experiment, adapt, and sometimes pray they work.
Take a quick peek at our cards below!
Our goal was to mix strategic deck-building with chaotic, roguelike action.
We’re still tweaking balance, but the core idea remains: Collect cards. Adapt your playstyle. Laugh (or cry) when your deck backfires.
