Devlog #4: The Card System! Chaos, Strategy, and a Bit of Luck

When we shifted from a skill tree to a card-based system, we knew one thing: it had to be fun, flexible, and full of surprises. Cards in our game aren’t just passive buffs: they shape how you fight and survive. AND LOOK how fun the gameplay can be with all the different combinations!

and THIS #ScreenshotSaturday we are EXTRA proud of ourselves. Just LOOK at our new gameplay footage – a visual feast of chaos, beauty, and post-apocalyptic mayhem. #NoraAndFrank is truly a child of love. We CAN'T WAIT for you to experience it!#devupdates #GodotEngine #indiedev pic.twitter.com/FWddW3k1Ea

How It Works

  1. After completing a stage, you choose one of three random cards
  2. Cards grant abilities, attacks, and special effects. Some are quite straightforward, others are… unpredictable.
  3. Cards are played IN COMBINATIONS. You don’t just pick the best ones - you experiment, adapt, and sometimes pray they work.

Take a quick peek at our cards below!

Our goal was to mix strategic deck-building with chaotic, roguelike action.

We’re still tweaking balance, but the core idea remains: Collect cards. Adapt your playstyle. Laugh (or cry) when your deck backfires.
